Know your library
Library is located on the 1st floor, at the centre of the old building. Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals and non technical books. Library manages knowledge, both in print and digital formats, that ensures seamless discovery and access to resources and provides faculty, students, and staff with professional support to find, manage and use such resources. It provides high-quality ambiance for both reflective and collaborative work and study.
Sections of the library:
Circulation Section: In this section all books are kept in the cupboards as per classification numbers using Dewey Decimal Classification 21st edition which makes it easy to retrieve the books from cupboards. Also shelf lists are put up on the cupboards for easy retrieval of books. Transaction (Issue/Return) of books is done at the circulation counter. There is a closed access for students in this section. Students can take two books for the period of seven days. After seven days if they fail to return the books, fine of Rs. 5/- is applicable. After seven days, if they want to reissue the books, they can reissue the book.
Reading Hall with Baggage Counter: Students can keep their bags at the baggage counter if they want to seat in the reading hall of the library. Students should always wear their I-cards while in library premises.
Multimedia Section: Multimedia PCs are kept in this section for students so that they can access e-resources of the library which are subscribed by the institute. Students can use these multimedia pcs for their study related things.
Photocopy/Printing Section: Students and Staff can take xeroxes from the photocopy section. Cost of the xerox is Rs. 1 per page per side. Students have to pay the amount required for doing xeroxes at the cash counter only and get the receipt from cash counter. Staff has to give requisitions with the signature of HoDs for xeroxes. Print out facility is also there for students. To take print out they need to pay the amount at the cash counter only to get the receipt. Rs. 2 is the cost of printing per page per side.
Periodical Section: Journals and magazines are kept in this section for reading. Library subscribes national and international journals related to Humanities, Computer, Mechanical, EXTC, Electrical and IT engineering, every year.
Reference Section: Reference books are not for home lending. Students can refer any three books at a time against their I-cards. There is an open access in the reference section. Students can search the books themselves with the help of call number which are put up on shelf lists
